The Alabama Society of Health-System Pharmacists (AlSHP) was established in 1952 and has over 700 members across the state. Since then, AlSHP has grown to become the leading organization for Alabama pharmacists practicing in a health-system setting. AlSHP AND YOU The Alabama Society of Health-System Pharmacists (AlSHP) serves many important functions throughout the state. AlSHP offers continuing education opportunities, facilitates communication and networking of health-system pharmacists, and promotes pharmacy as an essential component of the health-care system. AlSHP supports and lobbies for the advancement of professional practice standards to optimize patient care. The membership's needs are of paramount importance. AlSHP is continuously striving to meet these needs through communication, education, legislation, and motivation. The Board of Directors and numerous committees help guide the Society's activities based upon the members input. The opportunity to become involved in the various activities and to make an impact on the future of pharmacy practice exists for all members. AlSHP looks forward to pharmacy's future with high aspirations. MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS PUBLICATIONS MEETINGS & CONTINUING EDUCATION AlSHP MEMBERSHIP MEANS Effective working relationships with the public, other professional organizations and the legislative and regulatory bodies. Communication with colleagues. One of the most important advantages of membership in AlSHP is the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with other practitioners, which can take place at meetings, CE programs, and committee meetings. These sessions are a valuable means of keeping up with current developments in the profession. Leadership on your behalf in developing consensus on professional and ethical issues, establishing standards of practice and pursuing the attainment of those standards. Resources. Experts in various fields of pharmacy practice are available for information, assistance, problem solving and speaking engagements. MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP AREAS OF INVOLVEMENT AlSHP is an organization that prides itself on the many avenues of involvement open to all of its members. We invite and encourage your active participation in any of the following committees listed below. COMMITTEES PROFESSIONAL AFFAIRS COMMITTEES: Performance Improvement, Pharmacy Practice, Research and Scholarship, Residency Training. AlSHP LISTSERV You are invited to join a listserv designed specifically for the AlSHP members. This service, being provided by your organization and supported by the Alabama Hospital Association, will allow you to easily send and receive messages from your colleagues, with the ability to broadcast your message to the entire group at one time. |
